Gardening at Gigi and Grandad's

Blakeley helped Gigi plant several things in the garden this spring, and Blakeley was especially excited to pick and eat her tomatoes!  When the 1st ones were ripe for picking, we headed over!

Woods had a leaky diaper and Mommy didn't pack any backup pants!
Next to her tomato plant.  I love where she put her sun glasses!

See!

Another one!

I think these were the green beans...

Day with Blakeley

Despite our late start, we had an action-packed day. She is so entertaining and smart and keeps me on my toes, and laughing! She headed straight to ‘surprise box’ and in it was an outdoor table and seating for the playhouse. She set it all up with great thought and creativity. Steve brought a fantastic cardboard grocery board in from the lake and I added it nearby, using the wheelbarrow as a grocery cart. She immediately labeled it HEB and went to town, shopping for salmon, waffles, edemame and ‘mac and cheese’ for dinner. The day was beautiful and we lunched on the deck. Then, we played in the garage, riding on the Roller Racer and the tricycle. There is a mirror against the wall so she was entertained by the Blakeley show. After rest we made smoothies with frozen bananas, raspberries and yogurt and then headed out armed with her squirt bottle. She ‘painted’ with water on the concrete slab of the house, then pretended to be a kitty stuck in a tree while clinging to the ropes of the hammock near the stretcher bars. We called the Westlake fire fighters who rescued kitty and gave her a saucer of milk. She checked her green bean plants progress ( we may have lost a few during the close inspection) and counted the contrails in the sky (7!). Wonderful, laid-back day for a three year old.

Chance encounter with the Easter Bunny in the produce section

This morning we headed to play at Central Park, next to Central Market. It is such a well-designed playscape and she enjoyed it. We enjoyed watching her work the agility course. She chatted a lot about Daddy and Sportsball, too. After lunch outside, we walked towards the produce section and luckily
encountered one of Easter Bunny's helpers. Blakeley left with a purple balloon, a chocolate candy wrapped in purple foil and an organic carrot. At home she created an Easter bonnet for the concrete bunny out front, and also chased us around the yard before dispensing cascarones confetti onto our shirts and legs. She loved them! Prepare yourselves; there are more. Later, she 'rested' on the airbed upstairs. All round wonderful Blakeley day. Please plan a time soon for me to keep Woods when you two can do something special with her.

Morning with Woods

During Woods’ nap I tiptoed in to be sure he was in dreamland. In stealth nanny mode Deuce accompanied me, and as I peered into the crib he issued one of his famous loud burps! Woods did not stir. Earlier, we were outside and Woods, very much into ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’, observed a clump of something in the grass (big business left by Deuce) and stopped to look at it before pronouncing it a ‘Spidah’. I have been telling him spiders have eight legs. Genius.

April Fools

You can see that Blakeley was completely fooled when offered a glass of green 'juice' on April Fool's Day. She tried her hardest! And, she was excited to bring juice cups home to you and Brant.
